San Francisco Waldorf School is seeking to appoint a Head of Administration, who will serve the multi-campus, Nursery-Grade 12 programs, as its chief administrator. As such, the Board of Trustees, the College of Teachers and various parent bodies look to the Head of Administration for leadership in resource development, human resources, finance, facilities and operational oversight for the SF Waldorf School. The Head must enthusiastically embrace the School's purpose and mission and bring creative leadership and strong direction and a passion for excellence to the development and continued growth of the institution.
San Francisco Waldorf School consists of a grade school campus founded in 1979, a high school founded in 1997 and a nursery and parenting program founded in 2003. In September of 2007 the high school moved into a newly purchased facility and is the first LEED certified high school in the San Francisco Bay area. Our programs and facilities are in the midst of planned growth. We have successfully completed Phase I of a $15 million Capital Campaign with planning of Phase II just beginning.
The Head of Administration is appointed by the Board of Trustees in consultation with the College of Teachers and reports to the Board.
We are interested in candidates who can participate in the implementation and successful completion of all present and future capital campaigns, who are seasoned, successful leaders, experienced in administration, as well as familiar with the dynamics of growth, change, refinement, and stabilization in young, evolving institutions. The optimal candidate will possess most, if not all, of the following:
- Demonstrated leadership in a senior administrative/management position with strengths in organization
- Strategic and long range planning, and program development and enhancement
- Proven success in fundraising and marketing, who can effectively tell the “SF Waldorf story”
- Record of successful recruitment, hiring, evaluation, mentoring, and retention of talented personnel, with a proven ability to inspire and empower
- Budgeting and financial management experience
- Familiarity with technology and information science
- A collaborative, team-building approach to leadership with the ability to delegate authority and ensure accountability
- Superior interpersonal and communication skill
Knowledge, awareness and commitment to Waldorf education and philosophy are essential.
